A Commentary on Senior Year 2001-2002        It's really hard to believe that within a few months the period we will call Senior Year will begin. I've never really thought about what I'd do without my friends. Of course we'll make new ones, but damn...we've had some great memories. I know there are many things we wish we wouldn't have done or that we had done differently, but hey, that's just a part of growing up. We're going to be on our own before you know it, and that's a scary thought. As I sit here in my sister's home in Palo Alto, I know that the future holds many nights of college applications, scholarship applications, and a whole lotta other crazy stuff. I figure that I might as well not worry about it, cuz in the end, the work will pay off, and there will be other things to worry about...more important things. Anyhow, enough about that.

Senior Year. I hope everyone doesn't catch/show signs of "Senioritis." I know that colleges might think I have, I've pulled the plug on AP Physics & AP Calc BC. Whatever, I know I wouldn't have a great time another year in Breik or learning more integrals. At least I'm taking this Communications class at Stanford and working for my sister's company..that, I hope, will be interesting and fun. I congratulate all of those who have managed to maintain Valedictorian records, such as Praveen and Dennis. You geniuses, I dunno how you do it. As for the rest of us (including the Saludatorians or however you spell it) I'm glad we tried, no matter how many semesters our trying lasted.

I'm glad I haven't submitted to too many of the evils of adolescence. Alcohol - haven't touched it. Drugs - haven't done them. Clubs - haven't seen them. Some people aren't as lucky, as we all know from watching day after day of Channel One News. Man, I can't believe that we've watched what, at least 500 episodes of that. 500 episodes at 12 minutes a show...that is a LOT of Gotham Chopra, who, by the way, looks a lot like an older Gaurav.

Society has changed a lot during the Whitney years. I can't even remember the days when I didn't have WinAmp or AIM. I don't even remember that Bill Clinton was the President. He had just been re-elected when we began our Whitney careers. Man...Napster worked wonders for the music industry, and I guess that since I'm considering pursuing a music career somewhat, I should be glad that it's gone. Iunno though, I kinda miss it. I don't even remember the pre-Natalie days. Jeez

So I hear that Senior Year is the year that people 'get together,' cuz it's a last year together, blahblahblah. Well make your move, buddy, and I'll make mine. Yeah, I'll be headed to Prom and all that, unlike this past year's seniors.

I've made a lotta cool friends at Whitney. Unfortunately some friendships have weakened and some have even dissolved into thin air. But for the most part, I think we've all done a good job of getting to know friends who we know will be attending our weddings, our barbecues, and our parties of the future. It's been 5 years since our days at Whitney began. I hope that this 6th and final year is as good as the rest of them combined, cuz face it, we deserve it.
